Lightroom mobile on iPad

I'm an event photographer for motorcycle races, and have recently been trying to work my workflow into using the iPad.  At most locations i have no WiFi or cell service so i load the photos into the photos app and then add them to Lightroom, i then delete them from the photos app. I make my Edits and when i get service they load and backup to the cloud. The problem I'm having is they are still on my iPad and don't know how to delete them from the Lightroom local storage. I deleted my app and restored it and that fixed my problem but don't want to do that every week.

Make sure you have "Only Download Smart Previews" selected in the "Cloud Storage & Sync" tab of the LR settings. After you are sure that the originals have uploaded to the cloud, put them into an album and then use the "Clear Cache" option in the album settings (tri-dot menu).

Ugh - yes that's messy. With the newest iOs release you can now bypass importing into the Photos app and copy the files from your camera to a location in Files and then import to Lr from there. Once you are sure they are in the cloud  you can keep a copy on a separate storage device. The article is from April but relevant: https://www.idownloadblog.com/2019/04/23/ios-13-media-import-third-party-apps/

After they are synced and backed up how do you remove them from being locally stored
