Lightroom not importing photos from Laptop into lightroom for editing.

When I use my laptop for editing photos, I do what I normally do and select the photos to import, it has the box along the top left hand side saying its importing photos, but after a few seconds the box disappears and no photos have been imported.

I cant try to reimport any photos because the import button is greyed out. to try again I have to shut lightroom down and reopen the program.

I have uninstalled lightroom, and tried again with the same result.

My lightroom is up to date. I was using it perfectly fine a few days ago, and it is still working fine on my desktop computer.

A common problem we see here in the forums is that people have (accidentally) selected the wrong setting from ADD MOVE COPY Copy as DNG, and so the photos were imported but they aren't where you expect them to be in the LrC catalog.

You need to search for these photos in Lightroom Classic. Follow all four of these steps in order:

1. In the Lightroom Classic Library Module, on the left, under Catalog, click on All Photographs
2. Turn off all filters (Ctrl-L once or twice)
3. Turn off all stacking (Photo->Stacking->Expand All Stacks)
4. Search for at least one of these photos by file name using the Lightroom Classic Filter Bar

Thanks tried your suggestion but nothing has changed.

This sounds like Lightroom has successfully imported the photos after all. Maybe you do not see them because of an active filter. Go to 'All Photographs', set the filter bar to 'None' and check if the photos aren't there after all. Remember that they might have been renamed...

Lightroom (Lr icon) or Lightroom Classic (LrC icon)? What version NUMBER? We need the version NUMBER and not words like "up to date".
