Lightroom not opening

After downloading the latest version of Lightroom v 12.3 all previous photos from the year 2023 disappeared completely from Lightroom catalog.  I tried to use my back up catalog to reinstall them but now an error message stating the Lightroom catalog v12 is corrupt and cannot be used until it is repaired and then a blue running circle for about 10 seconds will appear but Lightroom will not open. I have tried opening other catalogs (even recent catalogs saved on an external hard drive but the same error message still appears). I have read to give it time but it has been left all day and nothing is happening. I have tried un-installing and  reinstalling Lightroom, have tried going back to previous versions, tried updating computer drive, literally everything but I cannot get it to open. I am just a hobbiest Lightroom user and definitely no computer whizz so would appreciate any help whatsoever. Is it something to do with the new version? Many thanks!

Thanks for your reply, my Brother in law is a computer whizz so found a back up folder which was repairing multiple catalogs which was stopping any other catalog from being opened, he managed to move those backups and reopen with a different catalog. Lightroom is back opening and All 2023 pictures showing except for my last two uploads which is the best case scenario I suppose! Thanks so much for trying to help!!

Try to start Lightroom while holding down the CTRL key.

It will open with a window where you can check the integrity of a catalog. Let this run on your most current catalog and then try to open it.

If it does not help, please try if it opens a new catalog.

  • Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately nothing at all happens when I try opening Lightroom and holding down the CTRL key. I'm at a total loss at this stage to be honest.

Please post a screen shot of your Lightroom directory.

If you log in to your web catalog at lightroom.adobe.com do you see any of the images from 2023? How did you update Lightroom to 12v3? Did you try opening the catalog from your Creative Cloud dashboard? Can you post a screen shot of your Pictures/Lightroom directory? What OS are you running? Have you tried completely logging out of your Creative Cloud account and then back in?
