Lightroom opening catalogue ...JPG

Question

On my PC, getting a message ‘Lightroom Opening Catalogue UAIJ8002.JPG’ . Lightroom Classic won’t open. I downloaded pictures from my i phone to Lightroom classic, but the one referred to in the JPG above didn’t fully download. Whilst trying to resolve this, the problem arose. I have tried to delete the JPG, but get a message that this can’t be done as it is open in Lightroom, despite Lightroom not being open on my PC.

Any ideas how to resolve?

Somehow, Lightroom Classic is trying to open a .JPG file as a catalog. This won’t work, you can only open catalogs into LrC.

I have two ideas how to fix this:

Using Windows, find your catalog file (named ends with .LRCAT) and double-click on it
Reset preferences https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/
