Question

Lightroom sliders are set to default after Photoshop

When I make adjustments in Lightroom CC, EditIn Photoshop, make some adjustments and Save, the LR edits were applied, but all of edits/sliders are set to defaults. Is this correct or did I miss some step?

Thanks you

It helps to, as you work, verify what file you are looking at in Lightroom Classic, whether it’s the original or the one sent to Photoshop. Because the original will still have the edits before being sent to Photoshop, while the one that comes back from Photoshop will always be the copy with the Lightroom Classic edits baked into the pixels (which is why the options get set back to default).

The way I pay attention to which file I’m looking at is to make the filename visible in at least one of the places where Lightroom Classic can show it, such as the top of the filmstrip, the Loupe info overlay, or the Grid cell overlay. Because if the file I’m looking at has a raw filename extension (e.g. .ARW or .RW2), I know that is the raw plus its live edits. If the filename has a .TIF or .PSD extension, I know that is the copy that is no longer the raw plus edits, because Lightroom Classic rendered the edits into pixels, sent that to Photoshop and also added that copy to the catalog.

This is correct behavior. When you send a raw file to Photoshop for editing, a new file (PSD or Tiff) is created, and then imported to Lightroom. All sliders will be set to default, because it has not been edited in Lightroom.

The same thing happens when you edit a rendered files (PSD, Tiff, Jpg) in Photoshop, and choose Edit a copy, or Edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments.
