Lightroom will not open after October 2025 update

Lightroom Classic will not open after the October 2025 update. I updated  my laptop and it worked fine. However, on my tower system with a very large date base of pictures it won't open. I click on the LrC icon, I can see it launches in the Task Manger but it just goes to EOJ without any error or any message of any kind. I"m up to date on my WIndows 11 system, and I updated the graphics drivers. If I try the many suggestions on the internet like holding different keys down and lanching Lightroom I don't get the response they say I should get on the internet. My catalog and backups are on a dedicated hard file on the main system while my photos are on a 10tb external drive.

Jim, I really appriciate your frustration trying to find the right number to actually talk to a life person. What I did was Google "adobe tech support" and it brought up an entry that said Call Adobe Support with a telelphone number. I can't remember which option I took once connected but one of them got me to either an option  or a person that allowed me to connect to a live technical person.

Thanks so much for your quick response, Donald! Its mucho appreciated! Like I said, my limited knowledge with LRC is limited, but I was getting used to it and I NEED it back! Again, thanks!

I never could get it to work so several days after I posted this I contacted Adobe technical support. I let them download a client and take control of my system. They went in put Lightroom back on the previous release. I tried to do that myself but couldn't find anything on the internet to tell me how to do it. This tech support guy took control and I was back up in less that 10 minutes. Now I'm a little afraid to apply the update that crashed my lightroom.

I'm in the same boat as well, Donald! I've tried everything I know, which is lmited, or have seen to no avail! Your post is the first to mention having a tech allowed to join your computer to go to the previous version! Can you tell me how you actually got to speak to a live person? All I've managed thus far is Adobe's Virtual Assistant! Which is useless in my opinon! My name is Jim! TIA!

If you unzip a recent backup of your catalog file, will LrC open that unzipped backup?

Same here - I updated this morning and now Lightroom will open in Windows 11, but then freezes and nothing else happens until I close it. Tried rebooting, using different keys.

I'm in the same boat. Lightroom updated and now I can't open. I've tried both cloud and classic, uninstalled and reinstalled, rebooted, repatched windows and rebooted, went back a version.  Still it crashes as soon as I open an image. Any image. Cloud or local.
