I am not new to digial editing, but new to Lightroom, I am really struggling with exporting when using  Lightroom, .

I am using fully updated Lightroom, windows 11, and storage on my hard drive is not the problem.

I use Photoshop all the time and others programms and have no problem exporting.
This is the first time I have really tried to use Lightroom  I cannot find out where I have gone wrong or what is going wrong.

When I edit photos for a couple of reasons, I like to export (save) the photo at different stages.
Please see image Lightroom 1
This happen on the second export of this image.

I cannot work out what I have done wrong or what has gone wrong.
Many thanks

Maybe a File naming problem.

I get this error message when I use your Export settings-

But I also get the option button the 'Use a Unique name'.

The "Custom Name X of Y" method only works when you have multiple files selected to export, so you would see- ...1 of 3,  2 of 3,  3 of 3, or similar.

If you are repeating the Export of ONE image with the same Export settings as previous, then- yes, you are trying to overwrite the previous expored file (with the same filename) resulting in the error message.

But, after reading your post, can I offer some advice and suggestions?

"I like to export (save) the photo at different stages."

Lightroom-Classic has a great system for preserving 'Versions' of an image edits- without having to Export/Save additional (physical) files.

-When you edit an image in the Develop module - every step is recorded in the image History (in the Catalog), and you can return to any step in that History at any time (in the future).

-When editing an image you can create 'Snapshots'. A moment in time that will record the image as it appears and allow you to recall and display that Snapshot at any time (in the future).

-If you want multiple 'visible' versions of an image in the Catalog library then 'Virtual Copies' are the way to go. You can have any number of edited Versions of an image by using Virtual Copies, and only ever have the one original file of the image. Very useful IMO.  And easy! by a keynboard shortcut [Ctrl + ']  ie. [Ctrl + the quote key].

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

Your screen capture Lightroom 3, shows the export dialog but the last couple of options are not displayed. Please post a screen capture of the bottom half.

You say this happened on your second export of the same image. If you change the file name do you get the same error?

I did rename, before I saved.
