lightroom won't import jpgs

Lightroom cc imports tiffs and raw from my Nikon D5 but won't import jpgs.

Macbook pro 10.13.1

Lightroom 7.0.1

Any ides?

    It would help us to know exactly what happens when you try to import JPEGs. And how you're trying to import them, whether from hard drive, card reader, or camera.
