Lightroom won't launch

As title really. LR has worked fine for years but now clicking on the icon or selecting open from within Creative Cloud Desktop does nothing. Everything is up to date. (LR 12.2.1), Win 10.

I have signed out, rebooted and signed back in to CC but makes no difference.

Any ideas? Thanks, Liam.

Please try is to switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue.

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

Hi, as i've said before GPU acceleration is and always has been turned off. Turning it on doesn't help either.

Have you tried to install LR 12.3?

Which graphic card and which driver version do you use?

Is your system up-to-date, especially the graphic device driver?

What has been change on your system before the error occur?

Do you have tried to create new catalog?

Sometime it's happen the user account in Windows become faulty. Try to create a new account with Admin rights und install CC apps under this account.

No, I can't speak to anyone - just a generic advice to contact my system administrator - who is nothing to doi with this as my work PC will run LR fine.

I have installed and I am runninf 12.3; No difference to 11.5 or 12.2

I did try a new catalogue. That didn't work initially but at one point it did. Reninstalling my old catalogue worked ok for a couple of days too and then just crashes as above. i will try another new catalogue now and report

back. I only have one acct on my Pc and that is obviously an admin acct. Not sure what creating another would achieve?

Tried a new catalogue again and reimporting a few images. Switch to Develop module and dumped back to the desktop. No crash dialogue or any other info.

I updated an old LR5 catalogue for 2020. Imported. Swith to Develop Module and dumped back to the desktop.

I would suggest a complete and clean reinstallation.

Please follow the steps below:

 

If you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 4 here,  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html)

Well I did all of that; uninstalled everything, cleaned everyting and then reinstalled and.... nothing

LR just refuses to run. Doesn't show up in Task manager or anything.

Any ideas?!

Incidentally, as before, Audition I can uninstall, update or whatever and that opens/runs fine

Try the following steps:

  • Close LrC if open (if the UI isn't visible shut down LR via Taskmanager)
  • Locate the file named "metrics.json"
    File Locations: 
    Mac: /Users/<username>/Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/metrics.json
    Win: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom\Caches\metrics.json 
  • Remove or rename the file

Check if Lightroom starts normally.

I don't have a catalogue file for v12 as yet.

I have searched these forums and I don't have a metrics.json file - LR is NOT running.

Nor have I any option to not send data to Adobe - don't think I ever agreed to that.
