Lightroom won't see photos on camera to import...

...but other services on same Win10 pc will, including Bridge Photo Downloader.

Tried optimizing catalog, no success. Not sure what changed or what needs to be readjusted to make LR work correctly again.

Lightroom hides, depending on your settings, pictures that have been imported into Lr.

Second possibility: there are reports that access to some cameras connected to the computer do not show up. In this case, please use a card reader to either confirm that this is the problem or as a workaround.

I personally never connect my camera to my computer. Transfer is slower as with a good card reader and the procedure is to clumsy in addition that I do not like having my camera on my desk.

Explain the problem in a lot more detail.

Exactly what steps do you follow (step-by-step)? Leave nothing out. What happens or doesn't happen? Show us a screen capture.

Also, is this problem with ALL photos at import, or just some of them?

Canon 7D and Canon 5D MkIII, both cams not working in lightroom.

    Typical procedure:

    1. Open lightroom
    2. Plug in camera, turn on.
    3. Select "Import..."
    4. Import Screen opens
    5. Thumbnails populate
    6. Once done, Select "Import"

LR is hanging at step 5, showing 0 photos and cycling circle on bottom left of import window. Eventually times out, bottom right import greyed and cancel clickable.

Cable appears fine, as I was able to use bridge downloader to get images off of cameras which open fine in Photoshop.

Don't have a card reader as I have always used this method.
