Lightroom wont read new external hard drive that is same brand as my full hard rive

Help please. I can't get Lightroom Classic to read/recognise my new external hardrive, that is same name/brand as my previous hard drive (that is full).  I am a photographer and fill my hardrives quickly. I have been using a Samsung T7 touch and I love it. I purchased a new one and now LR wont recognise the new hardrive. I changed the name of the hardrive so it wasn't the same as my previous, but still no luck. I am an Mac user. Any help enormously appreciated. (I also want to use the new hardrive so transfering data from old to new and using the old isn't an option.) Thank you for your time to reply and help
