LOCKED Double Post
Hello - I have searched and can't find anything on this - so apologies if it's duplicate.
I have a late 2011 15" MBP (with the ill fated graphics processor problems)
I had problems and had it fixed as part of Apple's recall programme a few years ago, but the problems have started again. I thought Apple would be fixing the issue, however the programme simply replaced a logic board with known issues, with a new logic board that had exactly the same known issues! So the same graphics fail has happened again. Anyway I digress...
I'm going to have to buy a new machine eventually, but i'm just not in a position to do so right now. I have spoken to an Apple specialist, who said replacing the board (as I already have found out) is just resetting the time bomb. They said they can mod the logic board to completely bypass the graphics chip, and the machine will never have the same problems again. However obviously this will mean I won't have any graphics acceleration. So it will make it more like it's smaller 13" brother that came out at the same time but without the cursed dedicated graphics adapter.
It means i'd have:
2.2 GHz Intel "Core i7" processor (2675QM), with four independent processor "cores" on a single silicon chip, a 6 MB shared level 3 cache,
16 GB of 1333 MHz DDR3 SDRAM
500GB SSD HD
Will that run Lightroom CC (I use classic and CC) & Photoshop CC in a usable way? Will the loss of graphics processor effect it? Make it not run at all? I occasionally edit video with Premiere, but I can easily get by without that. Lightroom & Photoshop CC are what I have the Mac for. They are what I have my creative cloud subscription.
Apologies if this is ridiculously specific, but thank you so much to anyone who can help!
Chris.
