Loss of edits in Develop module in LRC V.13 on Windows

Over the last month, when I use the Heal and Mask tools, LRC comes up with "Some Content-Aware settings need to be updated". I press the "Update All" and continue, but it is slowing down my editing. Then when I close down LRC and come back another day, the same updates are requested on every single photograph. Even updating to

    In that second screenshot, were you accomplishing a lot of spot healing? And that after masking?

     

    • Even one Spot Heal, in an area previously masked can trigger that.
    • And, you should really really accomplish healing, prior to masking. Issues can/will occur if you heal post masking. THis is addressed somewhere in the community, probably in the tutorials on AI masking.

    Most of the healing is done before the mask, maybe a dozen after the mask. The mask shows up a few more spots. Unfortunately it was a windy, wet day, long exposure. Between the rain and the salt from the sea, it was a struggle keeping the filters clean.

    OK, I see I made a poor assumption. Thought maybe all those heals were post mask. Re-thinking, that was wrong. My bad.

     

    New questions:

     

    • To clarify, for my foggy head this morning. You say a few are post mask. And I assume the masking recalc show up just after those were added?

     

    • The other photos, that all of a sudden need masks recalc. Are those masks via Develop, Settings Copy Settings (the mass from one photo) and then Paste Settings (the masks into multiple photos)?

     

    Something I was thinking about, but have not tested. A possible fix. Could you try??

     

    Make a virtual copy, as to avoid fouling up your completed work

     

    1. In the Virtual copy, In the Develop Module, in the Settings Tab, copy the settings. Just the Masks
    2. In the Virtual copy, delete the masks
    3. Inspect your Heals, adjust as required
    4. In the Virtual copy, In the Develop Module, in the Settings Tab, paste those settings
    5. Not sure if the masks will still need a recalc
    6. Inspect the masks
    7. I am thinking this might improve any heals that are having struggles with masks.

    That's a lot of content aware information to update, so I'm not surprised. 

     

    When you change the area content aware heal was used by altering a mask, you get that warning because the information is now out of date. If you have Auto Sync on when making changes, it needs to propagate to other files.

    Why, after I save everything, "Snapshot" the changes, is it returning to what the photograph looked like without the healing and mask? It requests that I "Update All" again, every time I open Lightroom. This never happened before.
