Ligthroom Classic

OS : Sonoma 14.4.1 

 

My photos are stored on an external hard drive and the catalog is stored on the internal MAC drive ... probably not a good idea considering the following...

Two weeks ago my external hard drive died. I was able to recover the photos and copied them to a new external drive with the same structure/organization.

Obviously, the catalog accesses are no longer functional. Is it possible to modify the catalog with the new accesses? If not, what would you advise me to do?

Yes, that is possible and very easy. The easiest thing is to simply give the new disk the exact same name as the old disk had. That is enough. Lightroom won't know the difference between the two disks in that case, and happily use the new disk.

 

If that is not possible for some reason, then you need to 'reconnect' Lightroom to the folders on the new disks. Here is how:
