Question

Lost edits history after upgrading to v14

Hi everybody
The problem I had repeatedly since the last year: after upgrading LrC to versions started from 13.5 and consequent updating the catalog (which is mandatory!) I get a new catalog which contains NO edits history at all! And the size of the new catalog is 4 times smaller (4 Gb instead of 16,25 Gb).

Last year I just reverted to version 13.0.2, and waited since then for newer versions . Today I've tried to install version 14.4 – the result was unfortunately the same as earlier. All edits history (years of work) is lost.

My previous catalog saved, but now I even can't see the option to revert Lr version back to 13.0...

Does anybody know what might be wrong? Should I have more space on my HD? Should I save my current catalog as a different file? Maybe this is a known bug but then why it lasts so long?

I run LrC on a MacOS Sequoia 15.5

Thanks in advance for any help or hints.

You can downgrade as far back as LrC 13.0. To do so you need to open the Creative Cloud App, find Lr Classic, then click on the 3-dots to expand the menu. Choose Other Versions, then scroll down to find the version you want. I've attached a screenshot that might make it easier to find.

Thanks a lot, I've just managed to revert the version; this time it was not so obvious as earlier)

Revert to Lrc 13.5: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/apps/download-install-apps/creative-cloud-apps/install-previous-versions-creative-cloud-apps.html

Getting no edits most likely indicates that LrC has upgraded the wrong catalog file. Please find the catalog file from previous version of LrC that has the edits, write down the name and folder of this catalog file, and then make sure when you launch 14.4 that you open that exact catalog file.

Should I have more space on my HD? Should I save my current catalog as a different file?

None of these are relevant.

Thank you for suggestion about wrong catalog file, however, it doesn't seem to be true: at the first launch of v14.4 it asks to upgrade the catalog file (and this action is mandatory, the only choice is quit the program) - then it makes an upgraded file (with the same name) in 'Lightroom' folder, and the older file is saved to backups. That is, after the catalog upgrade I have the only catalog file in the proper folder, then, if I throw the backup version of the catalog file into this folder instead of the newer file, Lightroom asks again to upgrade the catalog. Version 14.4 will not work with my current catalog file from version 13.0.2 - thet's the problem, the edits history is lost at the stage of catalog upgrade

Then possibly the catalog with your edits is in a different folder. Please use your operating system's search feature to search all folders on all drives for files whose name ends with .LRCAT

I disagree completely.
