Lost folders

After newest version of Lightroom Classic upgraded my catalog, I'm now missing 12 folders from my library. These folders represent 15000 images and 6 weeks work processing and removing unwanted images from the folders and catalog to around 900 images. This is to say the least disheartening. If anyone has an idea on how I can locate and restore these folders it would be greatly appreciated.

Most likely you have upgraded the wrong catalog file. Search for other catalog files using your oeprating system's search feature; open/upgrade each one found until you find the catalog you want.

I didn't do anything. When I upgraded to the latest version a pop up window told me it was upgrading my catalog and I trusted it to upgrade the most recent catalog. I have no idea which catalog it upgraded. I have so many previous catalogs that I no longer have any space left on my computer.
