Question

Lost my Masking Panel (Edited)

My masking panel is basically gone. The default is that the panel opens separately from the other tools and thereby, sometimes, it will cover a part of your image. I grabbed the panel and drag & dropped it into the column with the other tools but cannot get it back out.  If I select >Tools >Create New Mask then it will open all the masking tools in the right column above all the other tools. However, it says “No Mask Selected” at the top in the grey bar. And, there isn’t a bar to ‘grab’ at the top and drag it back over onto the photo part of the screen. Has anyone seen this before? What is the fix?

Thank You!

Can you post a screenshot? I have the masking panel docked like that since day one, because I don’t want it to cover part of the image. I have no issues with that. BTW, you should be able to drag it out by grabbing the top (where that small white bar is) and then dragging it out into the image.

I have docked & in-docked the panel in the past no problem. This time, there was no small white bar. There was also no menu from which I could cycle between different masks. I could create a new one (via the top menu bar)but never return to a previous one. I got on a chat with Adobe customer service and they had me reboot the software. Lost all my settings and preferences but none of my work. So I'm back up running again. Thank you for chiming in!

    Hi @MAKphoto,

Thank you for reporting this! It sounds like the Masking toolbar got docked into the right-side panel column, and you're unable to float it back out; that's not the intended behavior.

Would you mind trying right-clicking the panel header Right-click, some panel configurations offer an "Undock from panel" option in the context menu.

If it doesn't work, please copy & paste the LrC system info (Help > System Info) here.

A small screen recording demonstrating the issue.

This will help us investigate further.

    Best,

Thank you for responding! I tried to right-click and nothing happened. I got on a chat with Adobe customer service and they had me reboot the software. Lost all my settings and preferences but none of my work. So I'm back up running again.

    thanks!
