Question

lost spine text cell in book module

In trying to get my front and back covers to bleed over, I lost the text in my spine (not like it was deleted but like it's hidden).   Then I no longer had a text option ie could not type in the spine cell.   I finally gave up and sent to blurb without text on the spine as I needed a draft of the book.

Then I decided to copy the book and start over with the spine.   I deleted the two photos and mabe the spine and wound up with an empty front and back double window.   So I added front and back photos.   But I don't seem to have a cell for the spine (no yellow lines for spine) tho I do have the black lines running parallel in the center which I assume delineates the spine area.   ???

Your Version Number of Lightroom-Classic?

Have you selected a Blurb Trade Book or Magazine, or a Photo Book with Soft Cover? - NO Spine available!

For Blurb Photo Books - Hard Cover or Dust Jacket-.

There is only one type of cover template where a photo will bleed over the spine area, and that is- (for both Dust Jacket and Hard Cover)

or

Any other Cover template will only have the option to set page background, including the spine, to a selected color.

I get the two black lines on every cover template.

To type I have to click the spine for the text box to appear when the cursor then changes to the text cursor.

Text is always visible- (unless 'Opacity' is zero, or the text color might be the same as the page background.)

I suggest you also reset the sliders for Tracking, Baseline, Leading, Kerning, in the Type panel.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.3, Photoshop 27.5, ACR 18.3, Lightroom 9.3, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.3 .

Blurb Photo book, Standard Landscape, Softcover.

I can assure you that I've had spine text on several previous drafts with these options.    (unless it's VERY recently changed)  And I have 104 pages;  somewhere I read that you don't get a spine with text unless you have more than a certain number of pages.

To type I have to click the spine for the text box to appear when the cursor then changes to the text cursor.

Yes, that was true for me before I did whatever I did with the cells for back and front cover.   Does not happen now.  I don't have a text box for the spine anymore.

How could I get the blank cover template again and just start from scratch?   (unless theres something else I could try)

Here's what I get when I click on the front cover:

(oops, guess it won't let me insert a screen dump)

Get yellow lines around the front cover image and around the entire FrontCover + BackCover.   If I click between the two black lines delineating (I think) the spine, I get nothing ie no cell there.

Thanks a lot for your reply.   If I ever finish this book I owe you an acknowledgement for all the replies you've given.
