LR 5.7.1 compability with Canon Eos 5D Mark IV cs2 raw files

Hey there

I have LR 5.7.1 on my mac and I get an error when trying to import the cs2 raw files from the Canon Eos 5D Mark IV.

 

Is there a pluging or an update with compability support for the Mark IV somewhere?

 

As a note: Using the DNG converter is not an option as that defeats the purpose of why I'm shooting in raw. Furthermore I am not at all interested to buy any sort of subscription service software.

The simple answer to your question is no, the only way for you to utilize the latest version of Adobe DNG Converter application (version 11.8.1) to create a dng copy of your raw file, then import to LR 5.7.1. You will have the option to retain your orininal raw file to utilize with other application that provides support that model camera.

One of the cons though is that Your version of LR will not be able to utilize all of the new profiles Adobe has made avalible for use with your camera model.

First answer, update or plugin, NO.

Second answer, you are completely mistaken. Converting to DNG does not degrade or change the RAW properties of the CR2 file. DNG IS a RAW file Format. Leica uses the DNG format as their native RAW file format.

 

So either use the DNG converter or upgrade to LR Classic 8.4.1 through the subscription model.
