Help,

I have Lightroom (stand-alone license) at home on my MacBook Pro with images saved on external hard drive and backed up on a Dropbox subscription. I also have LR installed on a work computer but on Windows 10.

I need some advice what I could do if I want to access my original catalog (@ home) whilst I am at work - without signing up to the new LR CC?.....is this possible between 2 different OS?

TIA

Jason.

Yes, Windows will recognize file whose name ends with .LRCAT as Lightroom catalogs, and open them properly in LR.

Then you have to re-link the photos inside of Lightroom — because in Windows, the drive name will be different than the drive name in Lightroom.

Generally speaking this is not possible. Some people have devised work-arounds using DropBox that are risky. The safest way is to store the catalog file and all photos on an external HD and move the external HD from one computer to another, but that doesn't sound like an option for you.

    Thanks so much for replying.

I don't have an issue with carrying my external hardrive to work. I just presumed LR on Windows wouldn't recognize a catalog created on a Mac. Have I presumed incorrectly?

    Thanks again.
