LR catalogs across multiple PC's and now Apple M1 MacBook Air and multiple external hard drives

I really would like to reduce the number of catalogs I have.  I have gone through several PC's and now am on a Mac Book.  I have been using LR since about version 2.  My catalogs and pictures are on external hard drives.  When I loaded LR onto the Mac, I think I created another catalog.  I have a mess that I would like to clean up but have no idea where to start.  Broken links galore, and just a mess.

My general approach to this would be the following.

 

- For each catalog on the external drives, correct the broken folder links using the Folders panel.

- If you want to consolidate the multiple catalogs into a single master catalog, copy one of the catalogs to your local drive, giving it a meaningful name. Then use the "import from catalog"  command to merge all the other catalogs into it.

 

All that being said, I would evaluate each catalog to see if I wanted to keep it separate or not.

 

All this is 50,000 foot hand waving. We need lots more details from you before giving any meaningful advice.
