LR CC Slower than Molasses in winter

LR Classic CC 8.2 release, camera raw 11.2

I've never had this problem - same computer, same installation.

I'm importing raw files from a hard drive - copying to another hard drive while importing.

It's now been about 30 minutes and only 21 files have been imported - and only 2 images are visible in the thumbnail grid.

I'm open to suggestions on resolving this issue.

    Correct answer GoldingD

And check the hard drives for errors, both the hard drive that catalog is in and the hard drives the images are being stored onto.

Thanks for this suggestion.  As nothing else on my system had changed since the last import into LR, this is the only thing that made any sense.  Checked both drives - the one I was importing from did have some errors which were corrected.  Now it seems to be back to it's old self.

If upgrading doesn't solve the problem, and importing from the hard drive is so slow, please make sure you have enough free space on the hard dr4ives where the photos will be stored, and also check to make sure your virus checker isn't checking either the destination or the source folders.

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear that Lightroom Classic is running slow, let's make it right.

Please try the suggestion above and update to the most recent version via the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Also, you can try optimizing the performance of Lightroom by following the steps mentioned here: Optimize Lightroom performance

    Regards,

First thing I'd do is upgrade to 8.3.1
