LR Classic 1 4- Photos not importing

Hi!

 

When I try to import photos into LRC, the "importing files..." text shows up, however, the photos never come in, and after a click around LR crashes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. Not sure what else to do.

This might cause issues. Especially if you are having a bad day on the Internet. I blame this on Microsoft and their heavy hand in directing people to use MS accounts instead of local accounts. That results in OneDrive use for auto syncing files.

 

LrC does not always work well with constant sync to the cloud. As your catalog is auto synced to OneDrive, each and every edit causes a sync. If your Internet is behaving poorly, if the Internet is very over loaded, etc, then LrC performance can take a hit, and in some rare occurrences, the catalog can get corrupted.

 

Some say LrC plus OneDrive is made in heaven, others say hell.

 

Consider either disassociating your catalog with OneDrive, or moving it to a folder that is not associated with OneDrive (typically create a root level folder that is not named the same as existing user system library's like Pictures, and not in Users.)

 

Now that brings up the inquiry of where do you store your photos?

This is probably not the cause or the remedy of yours problem. However

That driver is dated, a good two years old, a newer one exists, v553.62

You could have performance issues, and some AI may not work.

Please tell us where the photos are located (camera card, internal HD, external HD, other).

 

Please show us a screen capture of the ENTIRE import dialog box when this happens. Use the "Insert Photos" icon to include your screen capture in your reply. Do NOT attach files.

I tried importing photos from my external hard drive and from my sd card and ran into the same issue.

As a first step, do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.
