LR Classic 13.4 manual sorting of files in collection not longer possible

System Information:

LRC 13.4, Windows 10, Nvidia RTX 2070 Super

After updating to LR C 13.4 it is not longer possible to sort files manually in collections. I used this funtion daily. It does not matter. The drag and drop just does not work, neither with one or many selected images. It is the same problem in all collections, not only in one

I deactivated the GPU, still not possible to manually sort files, I activated the GPU, still the same. I rebooted the system, closed LR and opened it again, recreated the previews, it did not help

Sorting by the predefined paramters like creation date works fine!

Any clue what is going on? Any workaround?

Correct answer mazwick

Dear all, Problem solved, at least it seems so.

I changed the mouse and it works again. No problem with LR or the drivers, but with the mouse....

Thanks

Hi there,

when the strange behaviour appeared, I tested it with custom order and the predefined parameter, no change of the faulty behaviour. And yes I use ordinary collections and no smart collection. I am a heavy user spending many hours per week in the system. But I was away for 2 months and upgraded LR C and the NVIDIA studio driver.

The exact behaviour is like that:

I select one (or many) files in grid view and keep the mouse buttom pressed, the file is highlighted as selected

The system does not pick up the select file. 1 in 20 times it picks it up and looses it at once again. Once in 50 times I can move the file, but the focus on the file is lost.

I havea two screen setup, but it is no difference whether I use two screens or only one.

The mouse is working properly in LR and all other apps.

I did not change the preferences, this problem does not smell like a preference issue, it is more likely something with the GPU or the software layers close to it.

Do you use Smart Collections? In Smart Collections the custom sort order isn't available.

Have you check that the Sort order is set to "Custom order"? Normally it would be set automatically if you change the sort order by drag-and-drop.

Try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:   https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI
