LR Classic 15.4.1 trying to sync 75,000 images, when I've only set 4,000 to sync

Question

Since updating to 15.4.1, LR Classic (on Mac Tahoe) is stuck trying to sync 74,000 images, even though I only have 4,400 images in albums marked to sync. I’ve tried both deleting and rebuilding sync data, but the problem pops right back up.

Anyone seeing this? Ideas?

Talking to myself here, but anyway…I’ve kept LR running (and kept the Macfrom sleeping) and the number of images to sync is slowly going down (about 2000 per hour). At this rate it should be through all of them by later tonight. I’m hopeful things will then be back to normal.Oddly, during all this, Lightroom is using very little processor (5-10% on a 12-core M2 Max) and minimal disk access. I’d love to know what it’s doing and what caused it.

48 hours later, LR finally finished syncing the 74,000 mystery images. Everything seems to be back to normal. I’ll chalk it up to gremlins and move on.
