Lr Classic: After update records of design of some folders are lost.

Sometimes the photos with edits are in a different folder in LrC than you expect them to be in. Why? Because if you accidentally imported the files with COPY (when you really want to use ADD), then LrC only knows where the files were copied to, not the ones in the original folder. Furthermore, you may have imported the files twice, leaving one copy with edits and one copy without edits. Believe it or not, this has happened before to people in this forum.

You need to find these photos in Lightroom Classic. Please follow all four of these steps in the Lightroom Classic Library Module, in order. You will find two copies, one with edits and one without edits.

1. Click on All Photographs (its on the left under Catalog)
2. Turn off all filters (Ctrl-L once or twice)
3. Expand All Stacks (Photo->Stacking->Expand All Stacks)
4. In the Filter Bar, search for one of these photos by File name

Thanks for confirming that you upgraded the correct catalog. Before making any changes to the catalog, please check a few things to determine whether the Develop edits are actually missing or whether Lightroom Classic is displaying the wrong preview/history.

Please select one affected photo and open it in the Develop module:

• Does the History panel contain the previous edits, or is the history missing as well?

• Do the Develop sliders show previously adjusted values, or are they back at their defaults?

• If you have Snapshots for the affected photo, are those still present?

Also, if you still have the pre-upgrade catalog or a catalog backup from before the update, please open that catalog and check the same photo. Do the previous Develop edits appear there?

Please don’t re-import or synchronize the affected folders yet, as that could make troubleshooting more difficult.

Finally, please go to Help > System Info, then copy and paste the information here so we can confirm the exact Lightroom Classic version/build you’re currently using, as well as the catalog location.

If the old catalog still contains the edits while the upgraded catalog does not, that would give us a much clearer direction for investigating what happened during the catalog upgrade.

Do you use multiple catalogs in Lightroom Classic?

Are you certain that you upgraded the LrC main catalog where those images had been processed? It’s entirely possible that an older catalog was upgraded. That would not show the work you had done on the images in question.
