LR Classic becomes slow, then freezes

Using Lightroom Classic, latest version. New laptop, with a second monitor, so this is the first time using Adobe to edit. Photoshop working fine. I am able to edit 5 RAW images, then I notice the software slowing down and then the develop module window freezes, but any changes I make are visible on the filmstrip below. I have to constantly close and reopen to use again. Drivers are up to date, catalog optimize, I don't know what else to do. Running Windows 11, 32 gigs of RAM. Exporting 150 images went lightning fast, btw.

So the Windows 11 build 26100, a.k.a version 24H2 has been very very buggy.

 

You may want to check for any MS Windows updates (last Tuesday comes to mind)

 

New laptop,

Visit the support pages for that laptop, check for any driver updates (no no no, not from MS, but from the laptop mfg). A typical one that can present issues is the Chipset driver, but just the other day a member had an issue with the Bluetooth driver and the WiFi driver (although on a Windows 10 rig)

So the Windows 11 build 26100, a.k.a version 24H2 has been very very buggy.

    It seems all of the responses were helpful, mostly getting my catalog off of OneDrive, but the others helped with performance. Thanks to you all for helping.

    Had another assignment where I had to edit more than a few images, and while it's not as bad as before, there are still glitchy slowdowns and freezes. I can get through about 5 images, then Lightroom slows down, the cropping tool reverts to the previous image. I can reset by clicking Library, then Develop, but that lasts for about 2 images, then I have to close and reopen Lightroom. Frustrating as all hell.

      Your catalog folder is on OneDrive. There have been many reports of OneDrive causing problems with LrC.

      With LrC closed, move the whole folder to somewhere else, like the root of the C drive.

      Then double-click the catalog file to launch LrC.

       

      You have the latest driver for your Nvidia GPU. If you're using the Game ready driver, download and install the Studio driver, which is more thoroughly tested and more stable.

       

      If your computer has an integrated GPU, make sure it's disabled in the Device manager. Adobe software does not work well with multiple GPUs.
