Question

LR Classic CC photo editing in PS will become 8-bit sRGB PSD?

Even though I have checked that the external editing interface is set to ProRGB 16-bit PSD in LR Classic CC, when I complete my editing in PS, it returns to LR as 8-bit sRGB.  I tried changing the interface to TIFF, it still gives me same result.

Did I missed some changes required in preference boxes in either LR or PS?

What are your color settings in Photoshop? What version of Photoshop? The settings that Shoot me shows above should control what Photoshop does. If they are set that way, you should get 16-bit prophotoRGB tiffs. Not sure how you would ever get 8-bit sRGB PSDs.

I did have the same LR preference setting for Photoshop CC2018 as Just_Shoot_me posted, and my color setting in PS is ProPhotosRGB , when I pressed close button and Save changes to PS doc before closing and return to LR, what comes out is a file OriginalFileName-8bit_SRGB.psd

What i'm not sure is that is it a file naming issue or is there an actual color setting processed.  If it is the latter, won't I be causing a color conversion from lower 8-bit sRGB back to a 16-bit ProPhotoRGB each time I return to PS and have it yet again convert to sRGB?

In that same Preferences dialog in LR at the bottom, which I didn't show, there is a setting for naming the file saved in PS. Check what that is set to.

You click on the downward facing triangle all the way to the right then select Edit.

Mine is the basic default which is to add the word "Edit".

It all depends on the setting you have chosen in the LR Preferences on the External Editing tab.

You can select 8 or 16 bit in that area.
