lR classic cc vs lightroom 6.14 - 6.14 is x4 faster in exporting files.

Hi,

MBP 2016, USB C.  Full spec'd , i7 CPU , 1TB SSD, 16 RAM

With Nikon D850 files set at medium size images = took 13 minutes to export 160 RAW to 2.5MB jpegs.

Watching the CPU was at 90 plus most of the time during export. RAM was fine.

As I bought LR 6.14 the other day as a backup in case I was overseas for a month.  I imported the RAWs then did the same conversion of 160 RAWs to 2.5MB jpegs..   This took only 3 minutes, and CPU usage was about 30%.

So it seems like LR 6.14 for the same export process is much faster than LR Classic CC.   Why is this so?

Seems to me for my work flow, I should stick to LR 6.14 as long as possible until LR Classic has sorted out the CPU issues that a lot of people are indicating on the forums.

    In all the benchmark testing that I've done (and I've done a lot!), exports using 6.14 are almost identical with exports using LR Classic (which I would expect as the export performance improvements using parallelism were introduced in LR6.0 and no changes were made for LR7). So what you report is, to me, unusual.

    First question: the files that you exported from Classic, had any edits been applied to them before exporting? If so, were the same edits applied to the same images in 6.14 before you exported from 6.14?

      You are right Jim, I messed up be exporting the JPEGs instead of RAWs, so wasn't a direct comparison. My mistake.  Was trying to delete this thread, but cannot.  Sorry folks.
