Question

Lr Classic contiually crashing during processing particularly using extensive manipulation

Lr Classic continues to crash when processing an image extensively. Viewing Task Manager the available memory having loaded a raw file into the Development Module shows a healthy 20GBs. During processing this level progressively reduces and Lr Classic eventually crashes.

When I reload Lr Classic and part processed file the available memory returns to a healthy level.

I have followed advice on a number of adjustments to improve performance and finally uninstalled Lr, rebooted PC and re-installed Lr Classic. Problem persists!

Help please.

For both the OP and the additional member with the issue.

By stating Crash, do you mean:

LrC stops responding, mouse movement, mouse click, etc accomplish nothing, i.e. LrC Freezes

or

LrC closes all on it's own, not by you closing it. It just disappears.

Also, is this mostly during Masking? And is it limited to AI masking?

LrC stops responding, mouse movement, mouse click, LrC Freezes and then afetr 1 minutes (memory occupancy increases to saturation point) LrC closes all on it's own. It just disappears.

When I disable hardware acceleration, there's no problem.

My hardware : Ryzen 7 6800H, radeon 680M, 32GB Dual channel DDR5 RAM.

Hello, same issue for me. When using layers, memory overloads and Lr crash.

The only solution for the moment is to not activate the GPU.

@chris.log

Please provide the information requested above in my reply to @John29833182lrkg. Also, there are no layers in Lightroom Classic.

Please be specific — what exact extensive processing are you doing?

Also it would be helpful if you informed us of your hardware and software configuration, as LrC sees it. Go to Help->System Info and show us the first 50 lines or so.

We’ve reviewed the email address you use with this forum and find no crash reports in our system.

Did you see a crash dialog?

Do you use a different email address when filling out the crash report?

Was the crash dialog Adobe’s? Microsoft’s?

If we do not get, or notice a crash report, where do we look to see if one exists?

If you do not get a dialog, you likely don't have an application-created crash report. At that point, you would turn to OS-level logs and troubleshooting.
