LR Classic Edits when using Edit-in PS do no appear after Save

My LR/ photoshop package is installed on Win7 and Win10 machines. On Win10 machine, after Edit-in PS followed by save, the newly created file does not show in LR Library. Instead it has to manually Imported. This problem of non-automatic importing does not accur on Win7 machine. This is after reading all the recommendation, help stuff, settings, by the way,

I discovered on Win7 - LR adds a new version file to the Library before opening PS. Then after edit/save in PS, that new version is updated.   On Win10 machine, there is no new version file created in LR library - PS just opens straight away.  Could this be a permissions issue during installation on Win10 machine? I mean if LR cannot create a new version upon invoking Edit-In, how can PS update it later???

This is a fresh Win 10 installation just a week old. I contacted help, who reset all LR & PS profiles, but they were only able to show that Edit only works when saving back to the same filename.ext

    Two things to check

    1) In the Export dialog window make sure the Export To: box shows "Same folder as original photo" and that "Add to this catalog" is selected. Both of those are in the top most section "Export Location".

you have to Export something to make those options stick. If you Cancel or Exit by click the X to close that window those options will not be saved.

Then Export any image with those settings enabled.

    2) in the LR preferences on the External Editing tab make sure Stack with Original is checked (Enabled).

Now send an image to PS that you have made changes to and save it in PS. It should not show up in LR.

    Just Shoot ME (not you)

    SOLVED !

Operator error (me that is). As it says "Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments"  makes a new physical file and imports it into LR . Issue solved

"Edit a Copy" opens the file and saves it back to the same file.

My mistake - unbelievable after 10years working with Lightroom and Photoshop.  Apologies all round !

Then you weren't sending a RAW file but a TIF, PSD or JPG to PS. That dialog box only comes up if you are sending one of those file types or if the ACR versions between LR & PS don't match.

The new version of the image being created before Photoshop opens occurs when the version of Camera Raw being used by Photoshop is not up to date/current with Lightroom. When Lightroom and Camera Raw are synchronized and up to date that file creation does not occur until the end of the Photoshop editing session. You might consider resetting your Lightroom preferences to see if that fixes the problem. Another thing to consider is if the sort order is set to creation date, "if" that new file is being added it would be added at the end of the film strip and not next to the original file.

Yes, the Win7 version has not been updated for a few weeks, so Camera Raw could be miss matched, but the Win7 version does work properly and Edit In's appear automatically !. I am decommissioning the Win7 machine, hence my focus is on the Win10 installation.
