LR classic fails to launch on Macbook Pro M1

Hello,

Last night I worked a bit in LRC, then backed up my laptop to one external drive and separately backed up lightroom folders and catalog to a different drive for redundancy. Attempting to open LR Classic, I get a spinng beachball. The system load goes to 100% but the app doesn't open after an hour.

I'm running LRClassic 12.5 on a Macbook Pro M1 with 32GB of memory running Ventura 13.5.2, plenty of room on my hard drive, etc. Other than the backups nothing else has changed.

So far I have tried:

- resetting app preferences on launch, then rebooting the laptop

- reinstalling LRC 12.5 and rebooting

- reinstalling LRC 12.5 and rebooting, then updating and rebooting

I would appreciate any advice. Thanks....

Try holding down the Option key while opening and see if you get the catalog selection dialog. This will check if it's the catalog or something else at fault.

Thank you very much. It opens if I create a new catalog. I will get to work on un-f-ing the old one. Appreciate it very much!

Sorry, should read:

- resetting app preferences on launch, then rebooting the laptop

- reinstalling LRC 12.5 and rebooting

- reinstalling LRC 12.4 and rebooting, then updating and rebooting
