LR Classic - Kiss of Death?

Expert Reviews have just taken a look at Lightroom CC and found it wanting in key features. Certainly for me it is. I have a 200Mb web connection which is nowhere near fast enough for working on files in the cloud, plus a lot of my professional workflow revolves around Smart Collections and other facilities not available in CC.

ER are certain that Adobe, in using the name Classic, are intending to shut it down and try to drive everyone to CC. Why else call it classic, ie old fashioned, as they say? I'm pretty happy with my Creative Cloud subscription but I don't think that professionals rate very highly in Adobe's thinking - not where the money is!

Would Adobe do this, does anyone think? I am pushed to think of an alternative to LR Classic.

Go for it. Everyone is certainly welcome to push the panic button and run for something better. Adobe says they are going to continue to support and develop Lightroom Classic CC along with Lightroom CC. How long will that remain true is anyone's guess. If/when that changes then that will be the time to make a decision. But why change now when there's no indication that Lightroom Classic CC is going to be abandoned? On the other hand, if that is what you feel is necessary in your situation then move on. It isn't worth the stress. After all, Lightroom (in any format) is just a software program. Software programs come and go. Cameras come and go. Life changes, but life goes on, and we always seem to adapt. Decide what's best for you, and do it. But don't waste a lot of time on a forum debating about it. It doesn't accomplish anything.
