LR Classic not seeing new files in a folder full of previously imported images

From time to time, inconsistently, LR Classic does not recognize new image files that have been added to a folder full of previously imported images.

Here is an example:

1. Conduct a photo session and import images into LR.

2. After culling, edit in PS, then in Evoto.

3. Export from Evoto INTO THE ORIGINATING FOLDER, which is the folder in step 1.

4. I can clearly see the new Evoto files in the folder.

5. Attempt to Import the new file into the folder and LR does not see it.

Things I have tried that have not worked:

1. Export from Evoto again with a new name

2. Exit LR and restart it

3. Check security/privacy permissions on the folder

4. Reboot my machine

AGAIN, this is not a consistent problem. I can go for a good amount of time being able to import the Evoto files into the LR library. But then sometimes, like today, even after having imported other Evoto files into this LR folder, LR does not see a new Evoto file.

Any ideas?

Alll I need to do now is crop the photo, which I can certainly do in PS, but I will not have a file in my LR library that I will be delivering to a client.

I am using a Mac Studio 2023, M2 Max Chip running Sequoia 15.6.1. LR Classic 15.0 build [202510171722-44f87028]

Okay, back to something you said way up above. "In the case I'm talking about in this report, the file that I want to import, that I exported from Evoto, that I clearly see in the folder, does not display as file I can choose to import into LR."

Also now you say NO files appear to be imported.

Try this:

In the LrC Import dialog box, click on COPY (at the top). Now you may really want to ADD, but it is required that for now you click on COPY. Then, open the Destination panel on the right of the Import dialog box*, and make sure it points to a folder that actually exists. Do the files appear for you to import now? If so, then you can click on ADD and import them.

* — if the Destination Panel does not appear, then right-click on File Handling and select Destination from the drop-down menu.

I think your solution above would work. I just got off a support chat with Adobe. The person claimed that the files had already been imported, but when I asked him/her to find them, they couldn't. So then in that same Destination panel on the right, they unchecked Don't Import Suspected Duplicates and then I was able to import them. I do see this as a bug, but I think she is reluctant to view it that way. She said perhaps the files were imported, but that the link to their location was somehow deleted. Interesting idea, but still a bug.

As I stated right at the start, this happens from time to time, but not consistently. I view that as a bug - certainly one that is hard to replicate and therefore fix - but a bug nonetheless.  Thanks for your help.

Please explain this part more completely.

5. Attempt to Import the new file into the folder and LR does not see it.

What is the indication on your screen that "LR does not see it"? What happens? Please describe in detail, and present any error message text completely and without alteration.

Also please clarify, your title and first sentence mentions Lightroom Classic, but then later you talk about LR (Lightroom). Which software are you asking about? What is the version NUMBER?

Attempt to import:

1. Hit Import button bottom left of Library view

2. Files not currently in library show up. In my case, these are some files generated by ProSelect and some jpgs that I generated for use in ProSelect - I don't want them in the library, so I choose not to import them.

3. Generally, I hit uncheck all and then check the file(s) I want to import into the library.

4. In the case I'm talking about in this report, the file that I want to import, that I exported from Evoto, that I clearly see in the folder, does not display as  file I can choose to import into LR.

Attempts to synchronize the folder don't show the file either.
