LR Classic not syncing to mobile/CC

I set up Classic to sync multiple folders with mobile but it has now stuck with approx 27k that it says are still syncing but nothing is happening except massive amounts of memory usage and no progress. One additional point is that the preferences information says that all 50k+ photos are synced but only 35k of them appear in CC
