lr crash on import after latest update

greetings,

windows 7 running the photographers bundle since it started ps and lr. recently my lightroom updated to classic?  and now every time i attempt to import images from my gopro card (timelapse = several thousand) lr crashes. note i've been doing this same sequence of downloads for years with no problems. i can't find an understandable answer to this problem anywhere online. i would like some advice on how to get an adobe rep to examine my system and fix this.

until then i'm dead in the water...

    Lightroom crashes about 3/4 through the import process followed by an integrity test. this is super frustrating and a huge hindrance to my workflow. I've  Had absolutely ZERO issues with crashes until the update to Lightroom. at this point i need to get my work done is there a way to revert back to an older version...

    finally,

    reverting back to lightroom cc 2015 to see if the import issue goes away.
