LR Crashing when tethering after recent update

My LR is crashing when using the new updated version - the one where it has a Canon tether and a Nikon and Other tethering.  I choose the Canon tethering since I'm a Canon shooter and it crashes at least 5 times a shoot and it's really not good when I have the client standing there. Tethered to a Macbook pro which is only a few months old with a new tether cable. I was told to update preferences, which I did and it still did it the next shoot.

So the article that you link to is from 2016 and references LR 5.  I'm on LR 8.1 so I'm not thinking that the info is necessarily the same so much later in the versions.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about Lightroom crashing when tethering, could you please let us know the exact version of Lightroom and the operating system you're working on?

Also, could you please try resetting the preferences of Lightroom and let us know if it helps with the issue?

I had already reset my preferences before my last shoot and it still crashed 5 times.

I am using Lightroom Classic CC  8.1 Release

Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6

In Lightroom, in the Plug-in Manager, the Canon plug-in, any error message?
