LR encounters error when reading from preview cache and quits

Question

After upgrading Lightroom Classic to 15.4.1, I am getting the following error when I am in the Develop GUI:

“Lightroom has encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit. Lightroom will attempt to fix this problem the next time it launches.”

This error keeps reoccurring shortly into my session each time I relaunch LRC.

Try this: open your catalog folder and move ‘catalogname previews.lrdata’ from it. Place it somewhere else. Then start Lightroom Classic. Initially you will not see any previews, but then they will appear one by one because Lightroom will rebuild the cache. Now select one preview, go to the Develop module, make some edits and see if the problem is gone. If it is, then you can trash the old cache.
