Question

LR lost connectioin to Pictures File - internal drive. How to reconnect.

Was transferring photos from LR (internal drive) to Synology NAS.   No problems.    Started updating folder locations, when all folders in LR (internal drive) disappeared.   Unable to connect to either Pictures Folder on internal drive or NAS.   LR shows that I am connected to NAS, but last folder is jumbled with many pictures missing or not belonging to that year.    I manually checked (outside of LR) both the Pictures File and NAS files, and pictures are all present and good.    Suspecting that LR itself is corrupted, but not sure what I should do, as am not program or tech savy.    Should I quit LR, and restart?   Please be specific.  How do I get LR to reconnect to internal drive.   Thank you.

Started updating folder locations, when all folders in LR (internal drive) disappeared.

That's what is supposed to happen. The photos can now be found in LrC on the Synology drive, and so LrC does not show the photos on the internal drive any more. No corruption at all. LrC is now connected to the actual photos stored on the Synology. Just look for them in LrC on the Synology Drive.

How do I get LR to reconnect to internal drive.

Same way you transferred photos to the Synology and updated folder location to point LrC to the Synology. Except you do it in reverse. But is that what you really want, for LrC to use the photos on the internal drive??

Appreciate the info.  LR is not showing 4 of the folders that I uploaded to the NAS(but had not yet updated folder location yet), and one folder is jumbled pics from a variety of years with some of the photos actually listed as missing.     According to LR, that file has 35,000+ pics (which is not correct, at the most, I estimate less than 10,000).   While checking directly on the NAS,  all the folders are there (2001-2023), but that is not so according to LR.    Sadly, on the interal drive, I am missing folders 2019-2024.   It is my intent to keep the current year on my internal drive for faster editing and processing, for I photo shoot many pics and then delete about 85%).    I cannot find them in LR.    Thinking I should restart LR, would this restore the connections to the internal drive?   Sorry, am just not tech/LR savy.

ooops.   My intent is to delete the files from the internal drive that show up on NAS and I can access in LR..
