LR not downloading, constantly freezing

Long post, sorry.

The problem started on my 8-yr old Mac, running the last iteration of Monterey. LR was molasses, and froze constantly. I thought it was time for a new computer, so I got a new MacBook Air yesterday. However, the problem with LR persists.

Today, for a while, I could download images and edit and export or delete without any slowness or problem. Eventually, I got the endless pinwheel and "loading" message. It didn't stop, I went to "Force Quit" without success and had to do a hard shutdown and restart. 

Today, I noticed that the problem started with a particular set of recent photos and the problem might be there?

I have done all sorts of fixes based on what I learned here in the Forum to no avail.
