LR "quits unexpectedly" and all recent photo edits are gone! Please help! so much work and time lost.

Question

I had my lightroom open for possibly up to a week and half now (computer has been closed and opened since) and while I was currently editing new uploaded images , LR goes and quits unexpectedly like it has before... but this time when I reopened the application, all the images I uploaded an hour earlier were gone and all the edits I had made to a different set a few days back were gone as well. This has never happened before!

The only other unusual thing that could have something to do with this was...

earlier this week I was opening up my Lightroom 5 and it was telling me I needed to update my membership (what the heck does that even mean!). Rather than me successfully solving that problem, I opened up Lightroom CC and all my images and edits were there.

Maybe because I made all these "new" edits in LR CC... but it's not like I can "save" the work, it always saves automatically.

Please help! If there is any way I can recover all that work that would be wonderful.

I figured it out on my own!It was my mistake... related to the fact that my Lightroom 5 wasn't working the other day, I was doing all my work in Lightroom CC. When it crashed, I opened up the old Lightroom rather than the one I was doing all my work in. Thank goodness!

What is your operating system version NUMBER?

What is the full version NUMBER of your Lightroom? (Go to Help->System Info and give us a screen capture of the information there, or type it in)

It may be that after the crash, Lightroom opened an earlier catalog file (although actually that sounds unlikely to me, but it could happen). Go to File->Open Recent and select each of the catalogs shown there to see if you can find one with more recent edits.
