Lr v10 hangs when Importing

I saw exactly the same symptom. Based upon what I saw in Windows Task Manager, Lightroom was acting on the catalogue in some way. After forcing the program to end mor ethan once and then rebooting my computer, I finally decided to let the program continue on its own until I saw that it had completed whatever it was doing. I worked on other things.

After some time, which I did not measure, Lightroom did advance to another screen. Then the import worked. I have tried two imports since then and they both worked. So my guess is that some bug in the software causes Lightroom to spend a very large amount of time to "do something" to my 13,000+ photo catalog.

Of course I don't know if this will work for your situation, but I recommend giving it a try.

Also, create a new catalog. Test that. Any difference?

(I've reomoved a lot of stuff that didn't seem relevant)

I have to say ... rather shocked and disappointed to discover that Adobe doesn't have a proper HelpDesk to deal with user problems. After a decade of using their products, this is pushing me toward other applications that are more reliable and provide proper support.
