Question

LRC 13.3 seems to have lots of bugs 😡

I've just been upgraded to LRC 13.3. So far in the last hour LRC has crashed 3 times and seems to have several bugs in some very basic funtionality, such as flag setting, preview builds and basic editting. Any chance we can have this working again. Seems the testers got excited about AI and forgot to validate the basics are still viable!

Oh and I've rebooted my i9 2019 MBP twice now to check it's not me.

I recently moved my catalogue from PC to Mac and had all sorts of problems with images stored on a Windows NAS due to a bug in the Mac version.  I am really surprised this had not been reported before. I then had a lot of sync problems which I thought were resolved but are not. And I see some very weird behaviour when using LRC. It often hangs, the Develop module can stop working etc. I did not have these problems on the PC. I have spent many hours online with support.

I agree. Adobe appears to have have got carried away with AI and has not tested the new version properly. A common experience with most software companies. Right now I wish I had stayed with the previous version.

Is your LrC set to use the Intel UHD Graphics 630, or is it set to use the AMD Radeon Pro 5500M?

"Built in Graphics - Intel UHD Graphics 630 VRAM (Dynamic, Max) 1536 MB,

Additional GPU - AMD Radeon Pro 5500M, VRAM (Total) 8 GB,"

Building on @dj_paige's suggestion, Adobe recommends disabling the integrated Intel GPU -- see step 5 of solution 4:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html#solution-4

If that doesn't help, you may be tripping over a buggy graphics driver for the AMD 5000-series GPUs that Apple released in Mac OS 14.4.1.:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-gpu-develop-edit-view-amp-export-artifacts-after-14-4-1-update-amd-only-affects-cr-lrc-amp-lrd/idi-p/14563606

You mention "basic editing" -- if you provide full resolution screenshots (not phone pics) of what's going wrong, that could help determine if you're experiencing the same symptoms as others with AMD GPUs.

You could try setting Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor to Off -- that has helped many experiencing problems with the AMD GPUs.

No disrespect but I don't believe the GPU setting will resolve the issue of flags not able to be set. Type P or X and nothing happens c click on the the icons again nothing happens reopen any photo and everything looks "Picked" or "Rejected" until you select another folder and then it's normal again. Go back to the original folder / image and the selection is now applied to the image updated and now not the other images selected. Basically this renders the review process total useless.

FYI I can still merge to HDR and edit but just unable to review the images.

Unfortunately you haven't given us any information about your system. Therefore, all proposed solutions are a look into the crystal ball.

Is your system up-to-date? Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver. If you have a NVidia graphic card installed, make sure that you are using the recent Studio version of the driver, not the Game Ready version.

Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

In the meantime you can try to reset the preferences of Lightroom Classic:   https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 5 - Topaz Photo

System is as below and I have NEVER had issues with LRC before but this release seems terrible.

16" 2019 Mac Book Pro (off the shelf with below spec).

Intel Core i9 (8-Core) with 64 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 RAM and 2TB SSD.

Built in Graphics - Intel UHD Graphics 630 VRAM (Dynamic, Max) 1536 MB,

Additional GPU - AMD Radeon Pro 5500M, VRAM (Total) 8 GB,

All Software up-to-date (OS = 14.5)
