Question

LRC 13 on PC not importing all my pictures

I have upgraded to LRC 13 on my PC and on my MacBook. Upgraded both catalogs.

No problems on the MacBook importing pictures

However when I try and import the identical pictures on my PC that are on my MacBook, LRC 13 has problems importing most of the images. If I remove the images from Lightroom and synchronize the folder again, 1 out 10 images may be read correctly.

The images are all JPG.

Optimized catalog and rebooted the PC but problem persists.

I had no problem importing RAW images into LRC 13.0.1 from my Olympus OM-D today on both WinOS and MacOS.

So I still believe that LRC 13.0 introduced an incompatibility with images exported as JPEGs from Apple Photos app using the "Most Compatible" Color Profile setting. LRC 12 had no problem importing these files.

What device/camera created the .jpeg files? Are they some new version of .jpeg? Did you import to the Mac first? Isee the most selected file in your screen shot is apparently 1:1 crop ratio. How did that happen?

Did Lightroom Classic V 12.x import these files properly?

I am wondering if the Mac somehow altered or created new versions of the files. By any chance are there twice as many files in the PC import as the Mac import?

The images were all taken with an iPhone 15 Pro Max as HEIC and then exported from the Apple Photos app as high quality JPEGs.

The image in the screen shot is not a 1:1 crop. It is the native 4549 x 4008. You can see all the metadata was read by the LRC import, but the photo could not be read.

The phoptos were first imported into LRC on the MacBook where all the metadata was input. They are then synchronized to the same folders on the PC. The folders and files on the PC and Mac are identical.

Thanks for the info. Are the files synced across a network connection?

Did this process work properly on LrC V12.x?

Can you try importing the .jpeg HEIC files directly to the PC without the metadata step?

LRC 13 has problems importing most of the images

What problems? Be specific and detailed. Describe in full. Show us a screen capture (use the "Insert Photos" icon, do not attach files)

Specifically as above. Since upfeading to LRC 13 and then 13.0.1 the application has failed to import photos on my Windows 11 Pro 64 bit PC. The images are imported and the metadata read correctly but LRC has a "Problem REading the Image". On my MacBook Pro I do not have the same problem importing identical images.

/edit/My bad, read twice, reply once.

Looking at your truncated screenshot (would be helpful to see all the panel info on the left) it looks like you are trying to import via Devices, not Folders. Adobe sort if does not like that, it has been problematic.

What happens if you find those photos under Folders?

And, yes, this could be a MACOS vs WINOS difference.

/followup/

so Library module, and images within Previous Import. What does this all look like if instead of being in previous import, you select the folder the image was imported to? Would like to see full screenshot in grid view, with folders panel as well as grid view visible.

And, what hard drive are the images on?

Just installed LRC update 13.0.1. It did not fix the problem reported above.
