LrC 14.0: Moving files/folders from the internal to an external SSD is extremely slow

LrC 14.0: Moving files/folders from the internal to an external SSD is extremely slow. Approx. 30 seconds per image file (25MB). Ran totally smoothly with the last 13.

MacBook Pro M1pro 10/16 16GB, macOS 14.7 Sonoma, USB 3.2 SSD. Apart from the LrC update, nothing has been changed.

Does anyone have similar experiences?

14.0.1 brings no change. Copying at file system level with on-board tools works as desired.

I just tested on similar gear (MBP 2022 M1 OS 14.7), and (10) R5 images @~36 MB each took 50 seconds or 7.2 Mb/Sec, which is about 10X the speed you are reporting.  The originals reside on a NAS connected via WIFI

Bypassing LrC and copying via Mac Finder (the same set of files) from the same folders, the elapsed time was 40 seconds, around 9 Mb/Sec.

To more precisely duplicate your test, I built a folder of the same 10 images on the local drive, imported it into LrC 14.0.1, and dragged it to an empty folder on an SSD. Same 10 images ~ 5 seconds or 72 Mb/Sec.

I cannot replicate what you are reporting.   Moving to discussions for visibility.

Ok, it wasn't an LrC problem. The SSD started causing problems at the same time as the update. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As far as I know, this has always been slow. Better to move large amounts of photos via the operating system and then re-link in LrC.

No. In LrC 13 you could move files and folders quickly and easily. Almost as fast as directly in the operating system.
