Question

LRC 15.2.1 OS Windows 11 when selecting edit in Photoshop the image opens as black and white. I have checked all my export settings. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this fixed it temporarily but the issue has now returned.

I have researched all possible issues but have not identified a possible yet.  II have checked image mode in PS , shows as RGB, updated my graphics driver, I have uninstalled both PS and LRC, reinstalling has not fixed the issue. In PS I can import a TIFF direct and this is in colour.  It only happens when I select “edit in” from LRC.

If Per’s GPU suggestions don’t help, here’s a diagnostic to try:

    1. In Photoshop, do the menu command File > Open and navigate to one of the problem .arws. That will open the .arw in the Camera Raw plugin.

    2. Does the .arw open monochrome or color?

    3. If it opened in Camera Raw in color, click the Open button in the lower-right corner to open the image in Photoshop proper.  Does it open in monochrome or color?

If you view the image at 100% in both LrC and PS, is there still a difference?

If there is, and you have an Nvidia GPU, make sure that you’re using the Studio driver, not the Game ready driver.

This could also be caused by a defective or incompatible monitor profile.
Try setting it to sRGB (use Adobe RGB if you have a wide gamut monitor).

    Close LrC and PS.
Go to Control panel > Color Management.
Add the sRGB (or Adobe RGB) profile, then set it as Default.
If this fixes the issue, you should ideally calibrate your monitor with a hardware calibrator.
This will also create and install a custom monitor profile that will be more accurate than sRGB.

Apologies for the radio silence, work...I have tried the recommendations and it has made zero difference.  Further experiments show I can send the image from LRC to Luminar Ai and Luminar Neo zero issues.  Also I have downloaded LR and I can send image to Photoshop with no issues.  It appears LRC is the issue.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled including completely scrubbing the registry.  Still the same issue persists.  Is it possible I can install an earlier version?

In addition, if I send the image file from LRc to Photoshop, including Beta, the file opens in what appears to be monochrome.  If I then close the image in PS and hit save changes it returns to LRc as a monochrome image.    Scratches head… and a thank you for your time and help so far

Very strange. I’ve never heard about such issue.

Do you have tried to reset the Lightroom Classic preferences to the default settings?

Makes it any difference if Photoshop runs in the background when you send a image form LrC to Ps of PS must start first?

Hi I have rest ALL prefernces several times...Very frustrating. This issue occured while editing sevral images.  All was fine until it suddenly started opening in BnW.  I can now send TIFF files from LRC to PS and these are in colour but any ARW and DNG files are not.

    This is very strange.
Is it happening to one particular image, or all images you send to Photoshop  for editing?
When you move the mouse pointer across the image, are all R, G, and B values identical in the Info panel?

Please post a screenshot of the entire Photoshop window with an image open and the History panel and Info panel visible and expanded.

Hi, strange indeed. Currently I can get I can send TIFF files from LRC to PS and they are in colour. However any ARW or DNG files are in BnW. I have reset all preferences to no avail. Below are are some screen grabs.  I do have a video too. Not sure if I can post this here?
