P: LrC 15.5 Video Files Issues (Windows)

I updated to LrC 15.5 a few hours ago.  Since then LrC has problems with video files.  The first problem I noticed was that when I tried to synchronize a folder that had two new video files.  After a couple of minutes I got the error message “An unknown error occurred while reading the video file. (2)”.  I had just completed those files with DaVinci Resolve so I went back and produced the same files again to check if DR had made an error.  When I tried again with the new files but got the same errors.  I was able to play both videos without any issue using VLC Media Player, so they seem to be OK.  I then shutdown LrC and did a backup including optimizing the catalog, and then restarted it to see if that made any difference, but same error.  Then I started looking at other videos that were already in LrC and found that when browsing them in the Library module, most of them pop up a message “There was an error working with the video”.  They will not play in LrC but work fine with VLC Media Player.

Prior to upgrading to 15.5 I did not experience any of these errors. Is anyone else seeing these problems?

@adrianmarsh How do we know that Adobe has visibility into fixing this ?
    I see the forum message here… but I don’t see a bugid.

The assigned internal tracking ids aren’t visible to mere mortals. However, the Adobe moderators are very good about curating the Bugs section to include only reports that they’ve acknowledged (usually by reproducing them) and are tracking internally. If a user posts in Bugs but Adobe isn’t able to reproduce the problem or doesn’t consider it a bug, the post will get moved into Questions within a day or two.

This thread is 18 days old, and Adobe moderators have posted in the thread and merged other threads here, so it’s very likely it’s being tracked internally.

Video is broken on LR 15.5, and the only known workaround is to roll back to LR 15.4:

    Fehler:

Same, just hit this issue. Compared video files I imported a week or so ago (pre-upgrade) and the codec is identical. Also, LR can no longer read the files it imported back then. Reverting ...

Can anyone estimate when Adobe will fix this bug & release an update that solves the video problem? I don’t really consider it a solution to revert to a previous version of the software. That makes me concerned they are not prioritizing Lightroom Classic and that I need to start searching for another software solution.

I have the same error as others importing video files to LR Classic 15.5. Has there been and fixes yet, and/or do I need to report this to Adobe? I had zero issues on previous versions.

No need to report as Adobe are already aware of the issue.

Same issue. Windows 11 Pro. Purchased MS HVEC add on. Tried Importing from various folders, including root folder, Tried ADDING rather than importing/moving. Changed filename to .mts. Turned off graphics card under preferences. Deleted dynamic media folders, deleted cache folders. Error persists.
