I was experimenting and created a new Collection. I dragged "ALL PHOTOS" (over 100k) to the collection and turned on SYNC with cloud.  It started to sync.  Seeing it wouild take forever I deleted the collection from the catalog..  There is no collection remaing YET sync continues.  I NEED it to STOP trying to sync.  I successfully use the feature quite often so I don't think it is a set up issue. Current MAC and Adobe products.

OK - All Synced Photos now says there are 5047, and that is the correct number. HOWEVER in the sync cloud on the right it says syncing  121,105.  when I watch the number it goes down by 10 or 20, then back up for a few, then down more.... so it is working its way down,. But I don't understand there is nothing to sync.  I did stop and reload LRC. at first it has the green checkmark, but in a minute or so it again show a large number to sync.

What you could try is delete the 'Lightroom sync.lrdata' from your catalog folder and then start Lightroom Classic.

Did you also remove the photos from 'All Synced Photographs'? You should have gotten a question about that. Images can be in 'All Synced Photographs' (and thus sync), without being in a synced collection.

I don't think I got that message. I didn't even realize there was an ALL SYNCED PHOTOS in the catalog.  I didn't delete all the synced photos because I DON'T want to remove all synched photos.  Only the ones that were in the collection that I deleted which had ALL my photos.

Not sure why photos are in All Synced Photos when most of photos that have not EVEN syncd yet (still in process).

But that gave an idea.  I added keyword "SpecialSyncKeyword" to all photos in any of my synced collection folders.  Then I did a text selection search for "Does NOT contain SpecialSyncKeyword"  once those were selected, I said to remove them all from All Synched photos.  I think it is working but it is going to take many hours... there are incorrectly 130,000 in All Synched Photos and the number is quickly being updated... at a rate of about 100/minute.  In the end if all else fails I'll use a catalog backup.

'All Synced Photos' is a special collection, that shows all photos that are set up to sync. So even those photos that are in the sync queue are shown here. If you add photos the a synced collection, they are automatically added to this collection.
