Question

LrC fails to locate images when migrating pictures from LrC phone app

Hey all,

I want to save several photos taken from my Lr phone app and migrate to LrC with the porpuse of saving them in an external HD folder. I have created an album from Lr and appears in the LrC "From Lr mobile" shared collections. Nonetheless, all these imported photos fail to be displayed. Instead, a message "File could not be found" appears. It asks whether to locate the picture from ~/Pictures/Lightroom/Mobile Downloads.lrdata/ ---Impossible to locate them. I know they are preciselly not located in my HD, but elsewhere in the Adobe Cloud. I tried around and download the original image, which is possible. Then locate that "suppoused" missing file from LrC and works. However, this pathway makes no sense and becomes unfeasible as the number of photos increase.

Can you help out to undestand what is happening? My heart says it is locally stored on my phone device and there is an existing copy on the Adobe Cloud. I wonder why LrC has problems retriving these original pictures.

Any suggestions on how to better proceed to transfer Lr phone pictures to LrC and then save them in an external HD?

I am using the last versions of macOS in both a MacBook pro M3 and iMac i7 and also the latest Lr apps. Both Lr and LrC sync well in all other aspects. HDs have lots of space and there is enough room in both computers' memory space.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

The specific folder selection is disabled on my settings. Even though I set a specific folder in my HD, I can see some photos have been downloaded ---only a few. Actually, it only moved those that I previously imported into that folder. None of the currently sync images is there.

This hasn't even downloaded the images I discuss above, which are meant to be sync.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks a lot.

Best,

Post a screenshot of the LrC Preferences>Lightroom Sync tab.

Post a screenshot from Finder of the contents of your Pictures folder.

Post a screenshot of the LrC Folders Panel.....we need to see the bottom end of that panel.

If the synced images are listed as missing in LrC, chances are that you have inadvertently deleted the designated downloads folder. The screenshots will help us determine if that's the case.

P.S. Use the highlighted "Insert Photos" icon when adding screenshots:

Hi Jim,

thanks for your reply.

If I had deleted the designated downloads folder, shouldn't this be rebuilt in the following rebot of the app? I can still download as single images these original files from Lr-web or Lr-phone or Lr-desktop that I am not locating in LrC.

Hope this additional info helps.

Cheers,

When you turn on the SYNC function in the Cloud icon of Lr-Classic-

ALL IMAGES you have Imported/Added to any Lightroom Library (via:  Lr-Desktop, Lr-Mobile, Lr-Web) will automatically download (from the Lightroom CLOUD) to a folder on your hard-drive. There is no way to choose which photos are downloaded. It is 'ALL or nothing'.

You can specify the preferred folder for these photos that download in the Lr-Classic Preferences > Lightroom Sync (tab).

SYNC SETUP IN CLASSIC

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.3, Photoshop 27.5, ACR 18.3, Lightroom 9.3, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.3 .
