I have read and tried to follow with no success the suggestions already posted.

I have 4843 photos in LRC and I will not be using them for books any more.

So how do I remove them all  from LRC so I can start with a clean slate t to produce a new book.

I use a Desktop Mac.

Just leave them there in the catalog, no need to delete anything. Add new photos to the catalog and work with the new photos. Use the many organizing features in LrC to keep the different sets of photos separate.

Are you implying that you will NEVER EVER EVER want to use these 4843 photos again? A photo in Book 1 will never be used in a future book, or never be used for other purposes and you will never want to see the edited versionof these photos again?

Thanks for your reply  I will leave them in Catalo then. I have been making Blurb books of my photos from around the world. So probably on LRC I won't use them again. I'm nearly 80 trying to sort stuff out and forgetting how!!

Can I remove or condense the folders which take up so much room?

I have sorted out photos on my Mac I want to use for my next book but scared to bring them across into LRC and get them muddled with everything that is already here., any suggestions appreciated.

I do appreciate your advice thanks.

What I would do is create a collection with a name like "Book 1". Actually, you might want to use a more desciptive title. Put all the photos into this collection. New photos should go into another collection, which I would name "Book 2". Then as you are creating your next book, always start in the collection named "Book 2".

This is what my screen looks like and I need to remove it all as I am so confused. Especially all of the photos along the bottom.  I want to make another BLub book.
